Procore Promotes Construction Safety With Third Annual Procore Safety Qualified Program
Program Provides Free Access to Safety-Focused Continuing Education Courses for Construction Professionals
Procore's third annual safety qualified program continues to promote construction safety through continuing education courses for construction professionals.
CARPINTERIA, Calif., April 8, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Procore Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of cloud-based applications for construction, announced today the launch of the third annual Procore Safety Qualified program, a course series focused on making jobsites safer. Courses will become available on Monday, May 6, to coincide with the beginning of Construction Safety Week.
In 2018, more than 800 construction industry professionals dedicated over 6,000 hours to safety education through the completion of the Procore Safety Qualified course series. This year there will be three new courses available. The curriculum will include:
Silica Exposure in Construction: how to manage silica exposure and create a control plan
Confined Spaces: managing, classifying, entering and permitting confined spaces
Safety & Technology: how to leverage technology to improve safety on the jobsite
"Procore Safety Qualified is quick, basic, and hits all the main points on the safety topics it covers," said Angel Garcia, Corporate Safety Manager at Williams Company, who completed the 2018 program. "Every topic is useful and interesting."
Procore believes safety training should be available to everyone in the field, which is why we provide it at no cost. The goal is to get all members of a crew on the same page about these hazards.
"We believe that safety is of utmost importance within the construction industry," said Darryl Kysar, Director of Procore.org. "We want to contribute to furthering understanding of safety hazards by providing continuing education courses to construction professionals at no cost."
One of last year's participants stresses the importance of safety training with an anecdote from one of his own jobsites. "I think it is important to continually retrain for all aspects of site safety and keep yourself sharp. The value of one life saved by having knowledge about the hazards encountered on a project is priceless," said Michael Sauvageau, Asturian Group, Inc. Project Superintendent. "I have used my training to identify a serious safety issue that prevented a man from falling out of a fourth story window. Without the training I may have just walked by unaware of the fatal accident that could have potentially ensued."
Procore encourages all construction teams to enroll in Procore Safety Qualified this year as one way to contribute to making jobsites safer during Construction Safety Week.
