What it is Linear Workflows is a new way to design and run sequential approval and hand-off processes. Where Advanced workflows use a node-and-branch canvas built for complex routing, Linear Workflows use a table-based, step-by-step builder that's faster to set up and easier to read. When creating a template at the company or project level, you now choose between Linear and Advanced — both run on the same workflow engine, and existing workflow permissions carry over unchanged. Who it's for Company admins who standardize approvals across the platform, and the project managers, accountants, and document controllers who push RFIs, submittals, and observations through them every day.
Why it matters Most workflows customers run are simple, sequential approvals — and the Advanced builder is more complexity than they need. Linear Workflows make those everyday approvals quick to author and easy for anyone to follow at a glance, without giving up the power of Advanced workflows where routing is genuinely complex.
How to get started Generally available to all customers — no opt-in required. When creating a new workflow template at the company or project level, choose Linear.
