bim Software for Construction Management

Building information modelling (BIM) is a 3D model-based process that gives architecture, engineering and construction professionals insights and tools to more efficiently plan, design, construct and manage buildings and infrastructure. This intelligent approach combines technology, digital representations and collaborative workflows to create comprehensive building models that contain both geometric and non-geometric data about the project.

BIM serves as a central platform for construction project management and collaboration. It enables professionals to create detailed 3D models of buildings and infrastructure while embedding crucial project information within these models. Teams use BIM to facilitate collaboration between different stakeholders, manage project documentation, detect potential design conflicts before construction begins, perform accurate cost estimation and handle project programs.

BIM transforms construction by fundamentally changing how projects are planned, executed and managed. The technology enables teams to virtually build and optimise structures before construction begins, significantly reducing rework (which traditionally accounts for 30% of construction work) and preventing costly design clashes. Through multiple dimensions of project optimisation, BIM provides comprehensive project control and visualisation that was previously impossible.

This digital transformation improves collaboration by giving all stakeholders shared access to project information, breaking down traditional silos between architects, engineers and builders. BIM enables more accurate cost estimation, efficient building processes and better risk management through improved planning and site condition verification. The technology also enhances safety on worksites and facilitates smoother project closeouts by maintaining valuable data for facility management and operations. In an industry challenged by tight timelines and margins, BIM has become essential for maintaining competitiveness and ensuring projects are completed correctly the first time.

Yes, Procore BIM is a comprehensive solution that supports and adds value across the entire building project lifecycle, from preconstruction to operations. In preconstruction, it supercharges estimating with 3D Takeoff for more accurate cost assessment and facilitates collaborative design coordination to achieve "clash-free" models faster. During construction, it provides mobile tools for field teams to navigate models, manage issues, and validate installations using 2D views and Augmented Reality, helping to reduce rework and improve safety. For operations, Procore BIM supports smoother project closeouts by assisting with the provision of an as-built model that can be leveraged in various ways for facilities management, maintenance, and future building utilisation. This end-to-end capability ensures continuity of data, maximising project outcomes and extending the value of BIM beyond initial handover.
