Document Management — September Release Highlights: Faster Setup, Connected Reviews, Portfolio-Wide Visibility
What it is:
This month's updates make Document Management faster to set up, easier to keep organized, and simpler to monitor: project templates now carry your document configuration with them, related documents can be grouped and tracked as Packages, and a new Design Management hub gives you a live snapshot of document and workflow health right from Project Home.
Project Templates (Beta)
Project Templates now carry your Document Management setup with them — saved views, saved collections, permission groups, required fields, naming standards, and workflow settings all travel into every new project created from a template, designed to cut setup time significantly.
Document Packages
Document Management now includes Packages: group related documents and placeholders into a single connected record with rollup progress, workflow-aware review, and full change history, instead of tracking them one by one.
Design Management Hub (Beta)
The Design Management tab in Project Home surfaces "Documents by Status" and "Workflows by Role" cards, so you can see where things stand without opening the tool.
Who it is for Admins and Document Controllers standardizing setup and tracking document status at scale; project executives at Main Contractors and Owners who need portfolio-level visibility without digging into individual projects.
Why it matters
Document Management setup has largely been manual: rebuilding the same views, permissions, and naming standards by hand on every new project. Templates turn that rebuild into a one-time investment: apply the template, and the structure is already there. You'll still have the opportunity to assign real users to permission groups and fill in project-specific values afterwards.
Before Packages, teams relied on workarounds that were rigid to maintain and gave reviewers no shared context for what a group of documents was actually for. Packages make that grouping real: a command-center view of completeness, ownership, and bottlenecks, with a review flow that lets you step through every document in the group instead of opening them one by one.
And the Design Management Hub means you don't have to go looking for problems: a quick glance at Project Home tells you where documents stand and which roles have the most overdue work, before it becomes a bigger holdup.
How to get started
To use Document Management in a Project Template, designate a project as a template through Support or your Procore point of contact as usual: Document Management configuration is now captured automatically as part of that process, and applies the same way any project template does during new project creation.
To create a Package, go to the Documents or Uploads tab, select the items you want to group, and choose "Add to Package" from the bulk action menu or start from the Packages tab and select "Create Manually."
The Design Management tab appears automatically in Project Home for projects using Document Management: no setup required. Card visibility depends on your existing Document Management permissions.

Document Management: Export Workflow History as PDF or CSV
A new full-page, filterable Workflow History view is available for each Document Management item on web, with PDF and CSV export options and configurable column visibility — making it easy to produce a complete, shareable audit record.
Document Management: Recycle Bin Now Covers Uploads
Deleted uploads and placeholders now move to the Recycle Bin instead of being removed for good, keeping their original details so authorized users can locate, download, or restore them at any time.
