Construction scheduling software is a digital solution that allows you to plan, track, and adjust the tasks of a construction project. It helps field and office teams visualize schedules in real time, coordinate resources, and communicate effectively.
Unlike generic software such as Excel, construction-specific software incorporates the constraints specific to the work, such as task dependencies, approvals, and contingency management. This improves project management and reduces delays on construction sites.
Construction scheduling software could be described as the timekeeper of today’s construction project. Cloud-based and synchronously viewable by all permitted project workers, Procore’s construction project scheduling software keeps the project on track in a real-time, shared scheduling ecosystem.
While site managers and other stakeholders may use construction project scheduling software as a lookahead to track both current and planned objectives on the project, collaborators count on the currency of an up-to-the-minute project programme to tell them what day(s) they need to be on the jobsite and what the specifically assigned tasks are for the given workday.
Is construction planning and scheduling software an improvement over simply posting the hardcopy programme in the jobsite trailer or other common area? Yes. The digital nature of the construction scheduling software means the detailed project programme is accessible in real time to all users wherever they are. It also means the team will always be able to view the latest, most up-to-date synchronised programme.
Programme updates happen automatically in real time so that users never have to worry about tracking programme revisions or wonder if they are seeing the most recent programme iteration. The Procore platform proffers a single source of truth in every instance.
Construction planning and scheduling software allows the user to filter the project programme by task, speciality contractor or any number of other criteria, such as ‘plumbing contractor’ or ‘framing’. Users can access the app on any smart device or connected location. The user can search the relevant text through an extensive, complex project programme. The user can easily get the construction programme information they need, when they need it.
It’s a fact: Gantt charts aren’t for everybody. What good is a constantly updated, commonly available project programme if the info it presents has to be deciphered to be understood? The Procore Programme tool also offers a familiar calendar view by day, week or month. In calendar view, project tasks are presented as individual bars that display the task name, the crew member(s) assigned to that task and the start and finish dates. Each task on the calendar has a clickable link that allows you to edit and customise the task in several ways to make it even more straightforward. Users can choose to change the task start date or finish date, or the percentage completed for each task.
Schedule management is part of a suite of interconnected project management features that cover the entire construction lifecycle. For example, you can view and annotate site plans directly from the same interface, consult progress photos, or access specifications related to the various activities. This seamless integration of planning, documentation, and on-site operations enhances coordination, minimizes errors, and ensures real-time monitoring.
Procore is billed based on the Annual Cost of Construction (ACC) principle, which is the revenue generated by the projects managed by your company. This model allows you to tailor the price to your actual activity, with no limit on the number of users. Procore lets you freely invite your teams, partners, and subcontractors at no extra cost. You thus benefit from a comprehensive, collaborative, and scalable project management software designed for construction companies looking to centralize their projects on a single platform.
