Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement that aims to elevate the power of people and organisations to transform their communities and the world around them. Procore embraces this day as an opportunity to celebrate employee volunteering, collaborate with other philanthropic organisations and give back to the construction industry.
Procore employees participate in community engagement activities year-round, from collaborating with our construction non-profit partners like Habitat for Humanity, to virtual participation, and personal causes that matter most to them. In 2015, Procore launched Procore Cares, an initiative designed to enable our employees to become catalysts for positive change and foster a culture of giving back. In 2023, our employees held 48 volunteer events, dedicated 3,100 hours and supported 181 causes.
“When people give back, it promotes a culture of generosity rather than consumption,” said Matt Bagnara, staff site reliability engineer at Procore. “This shift from a ‘me’ mentality to an ‘our’ mentality promotes empathy, understanding and mutual support.”
When Procore was first established over twenty years ago, our employees began providing one-off donations of our construction management software to educators across the United States. This culminated in the formalisation of Procore.org in 2017. Procore.org now serves as part of Procore’s social impact arm with a mission to advance the construction industry through advocacy, education and technology.
Eight years later, this initiative has expanded to 1000+ donated accounts across more than 20 countries. We donate product and implementation services to university professors who are preparing the next generation of construction professionals, union training centres tasked with the job of increasing digital literacy on the site, non-profits rebuilding our communities in wake of disaster, and other stakeholders the construction industry reaches globally.
Today, Procore will be ringing the Nasdaq bell in Times Square alongside fellow Pledge 1% companies. Procore first joined Pledge 1% in 2019, which is a global movement that encourages and empowers companies of all sizes and stages to donate 1% of their staff time, product, profit and/or equity to any charity of their choosing.
"It's an honour to again stand alongside other Pledge 1% companies on Giving Tuesday to demonstrate our commitment to giving back through product donations and employee volunteering," said Miles Anderson, senior manager of Procore.org. "I'm inspired to see other construction technology partners of ours join the movement and give back to this incredible industry."
Finally, this day is a time to come together to make a difference in the lives of others in our larger construction community. Earlier this year, we launched Get Construction Talking to raise awareness of mental health in construction in partnership with The B1M.
Among men in the US, UK and Australia, construction has one of the highest suicide rates of any sector. One of the goals anchoring this global initiative is to raise USD$1 million for construction mental health charities across the globe, including:
Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity
(UK and Ireland)
(UK)
(UK)
(Australia and New Zealand)
By donating, you are joining us in providing these charities with the resources needed to help lower the suicide rates in construction and save more lives. Donate to Get Construction Talking now.
