Asset Management — September Release Highlights: All Your Assets on One Map, Inline Editing, and Sharper Admin Control
What it is
Asset Management takes a big step forward this month — see and manage fixed assets across your portfolio from a single map, make updates in seconds, and keep your data clean with smarter rules.
Assets <> Maps
Map View is now available at the company level, so you can see every asset across your entire portfolio on a single map — no project assignment required. Assets with coordinates appear as markers, and you can drop or move pins to set locations. And you can now take bulk actions directly from the map: select multiple assets with a click or a lasso, then edit fields, update statuses, add attachments, print QR codes or delete records without ever switching to the list view.
Usability
Inline editing comes to the Asset Register, making routine asset updates faster and easier. Update asset data - trades, locations, and custom fields - directly in the grid, without opening assets one at a time. Teams can make changes in seconds, reducing clicks and admin effort while keeping asset data up to date
Data Validations
Two upgrades give admins control over data quality at both the company and project level. With status-based conditional field validations, Company Admins can set rules that require or recommend specific fields whenever an asset moves into a given status — so critical data like installation dates gets captured at exactly the right moment in the asset lifecycle. And with project-level default values, Project Admins can standardize asset data and cut down on manual entry: known attributes like make or model are applied automatically instead of typed in by hand. Set from a new Defaults tab, these defaults and read-only rules can override company-level settings for that project without changing the company standard resulting in more accurate, consistent data with less effort from the field.
Who it is for
Asset managers, company admins and field teams managing large asset inventories — especially horizontal construction teams working across pipelines, roads and utilities, where assets live on the map, not on a single project. Company Admins and Project Admins responsible for data quality and governance will benefit most from the new validation rules and project-level defaults.
Why it matters
Your team spends less time clicking and more time building. Before, managing assets meant constant detours: switching from map to list to make bulk updates, opening each asset individually for routine edits, and assigning assets to a project just to see them on a map. Now you can work where your assets are — spatially, at the company level — and keep records current in a fraction of the time.
The data quality story goes further this month. Status validations mean you're no longer chasing down missing information after the fact — so your asset record stays accurate as work progresses, not just at closeout. Admins choose strict enforcement for non-negotiable data or gentle warnings for recommended fields, and the rules apply across manual edits, bulk updates, Excel imports and BIM extraction. Project-level defaults solve a different headache: when the same asset type needs different standard values on different projects, you no longer have to duplicate asset types or re-enter data manually. Each project's assets get seeded and governed with the values that project actually requires, while your company standard stays untouched. The result is complete, consistent asset data your whole team can trust — on every project, throughout the life of the build.
How to get started
Open the Asset Register at the company level and use the view toggle to switch to Map View. To take bulk actions, select assets on the map individually or with the lasso tool, then choose your action. In the register grid, click any editable cell to update it in place.
For data rules: Company Admins can configure status-based validations under Admin > Tool Settings > Assets > Default Fields > Field Rules — choose the asset types, the triggering status, the fields to enforce, and whether to block the save or warn the user. Project Admins can set project-specific defaults under Project Admin > Asset Types > [Asset Type] > Defaults — override or clear company default values and toggle fields between read-only and editable for that project. Validation rules apply going forward, so existing records are never retroactively flagged. All features are available on the web starting September 15, 2026.
